Promise-skewity in Youngstown
I've trekked from one side of Ohio to its other side via the OH Turnpike on innumerable occasions.
The beginning and end point, the place where you pay the exit/entrance toll, is the ironically-named city of Youngstown. Yes, those definitions found on the UD site are Lol'zianly accurate. It's a fitting snapshot of your average bleak American city that somehow Hillary Clinton, bless her heart, has used it as a pivotal constituency base. The sort of folks which fall hook-line-and-sinker for lame minivan-certified alarmist ads. You know, the sort of folks who rarely venture out of Ohio. Dynamic citizenry like that.
Hillary's official campaign song is from Bruce Springsteen, who penned a rusty tune about said city in '95 -- the year some of Ohio's finest musical exports described gloomtown. If you keep driving eastbound on the Turnpike past Youngstown you'll find yourself on the Penna Turnpike, which is also dotted with an abundant amount of cities in a condition of terminal decay. Such as York PA, close to Hershey Park, affectionately referred to as 'Shit Towne' by locals. The singer of that song happens to now swing towards Obama. Pennsylvania is the next 'battleground' state
BTW, I'm gonna hurl the next time I hear Barack gives the meaningless sea-to-shining-sea geography lesson. Sounds very average, very ordinary, and very predictable. Disappointing. But then again the Average American™ get the mediocrity it deserves. America's 51%'ers, the folks who flood Old Country Buffets from sea to shining sea, who voted in Bush twice, get the life they deserve.
Obama now knows he's gotta change gears a bit: update the rhetoric, just as Slick Hilly Clinton has done. Hate to give her and Terry McCaulife credit, but incorporating the words "solution" and "yes we will" was brilliant. Crude, but a compliment to Barack because they're chomping at the bit. Obama tonight even threw out the plastic "god bless America" quip. Ugh. Is WillIAm now speechwriting? I thought he's not hanging out with rev. Al and rev. Jesse?
